I have been nominated by the poetess Ellora Mohanty to participate in the poetic marathon #PeetMeNotLeave. For eight consecutive days, I will be publishing one of my poems along with a photo.
I have been quite late in participating in this contest but nonetheless, I wanted to give it a try for the sheer joy of being able to create some poetic landscapes. I hope you like my attempt and in some way, enjoy the journey. I welcome you all on this fun ride!!
I have chosen Fire/light as my inspiration and I hope I do justice to the theme through my poems.
The second poem is captioned as Cheers to Bonfire!

The flames started catching up,
One after the other,
Igniting the dry twigs along,
The rustling of the dried leaves,
Adding to the melancholy vibe in the air.
In the dark deserted wintery nights,
The bonfire became the only means,
To soothe the frigid barrenness,
steadily drawing closer each being into proximity,
transforming the atmosphere into a melting pot,
Of ideas ,laughter, gossips & togetherness,
Giving meaning to new associations,
Forging many meaningful bonds,
Inviting the echo of the nostalgic reminiscence,
Enabling many grieving hearts,
To smile, to cheer up,
To get lost in the present,
Forgetting varied & multiple inhibitions,
Including the worry of the future,
And the regret of the past.
The whispering cold winds come rushing,
To pronounce the need for amiability,
To celebrate the amber- colored evenings,
By merry -making , dancing away to the melodies &
Painting a canvas with indelible impressions.
Love ,
Chinmayee
This is wonderful.. floats the mind somewhere unknown, which is good.

Loved the warmth of the bonfire.
That can help to calm loneliness, barrenness, grief, inhibitions, regrets…
