Light of kindness

I have been nominated by the poetess Ellora Mohanty to participate in the poetic marathon #PeetMeNotLeave. For eight consecutive days, I will be publishing one of my poems along with a photo.

I have been quite late in participating in this contest but nonetheless, I wanted to give it a try for the sheer joy of being able to create some poetic landscapes. I hope you like my attempt and in some way, enjoy the journey. I welcome you all on this fun ride!!

I have chosen Fire/light as my inspiration and I hope I do justice with the theme through my poems.

The first poem is captioned as Light of kindness

The lights said to the darkness,

You may be lurking around,

Engulfing the vastness of despair within,

Cajoling the weak & lost ones,

Singing a lullaby to fall into your arms.

Know that I will be around,

With my illuminated halo,

To remind each being to strive,

Hard to not give in,

To shine from within,

Even if that means,

To burn within.

The darkness gave a sardonic smile,

Declaring its power and,

The mighty force that it can exert,

 A pull so sturdy,

Into the vortex of,

Dejection & despair.

Crushing the very spirit,

Of even the most spirited one,

Lurking around in the,

 Dungeons of loneliness.

The light opened up its arms,

To announce that I possess,

Within me a prayer &,

A river of faith that flows,

Within my shining orb,

Is enough to rekindle,

The passion to keep cleaning the,

Cobwebs of fear & doubts,

Sometimes a lone light may flicker,

For reasons unknown,

A tiny beacon of kindness,

is all one needs,

to steady the radiance.

Love,

Chinmayee

To shine bright, we must burn too & then we can glow.

  2. A single light can stand apart in darkness and take the baton of the hope forward. Very good theme of the poetry, good luck for further poetry.
