Liberation

After all the hassles, she reached Switzerland. She had been on a mission for the past few years, and her goal seemed achievable now. She heaved a sigh of relief. She was happy—so happy that her eyes welled up with tears.

The D Day arrived. She made the payment. Documentation was done. Permission letter signed.

“Are you sure of your decision?” The doctor asked.

All the pain, shame, embarrassment, judgements, taunts, betrayals, suffering, loss…will have no meaning now.

“Yes” She answered.

The doctor injected her with it.

Euthanasia.

Life was a punishment for her. Liberation from this life is what she wanted.

Love,

Chinmayee

  1. This gave me chills. So powerful in so few words. Her pain, strength, and final decision all come through so clearly. It’s heartbreaking, yet strangely peaceful. Makes you realise how important it is to truly see and hear the people around us—before it’s too late.
