Daughter

When I was tying my shoelaces, he cupped my breasts hard. “You are growing up so fast. Come to Daddy!” I screamed & ran away to school. I could hear him laugh loudly as I left.

Teary-eyed, I sat in the corner of my school bus. I wish I could tell someone! But how? Who will believe me?

They all say, “You are lucky to have such a loving father.” No one knows the truth!

Maa, why did you die alone without me? I do not want to be born as a daughter, ever! I cried loudly.

Love,

Chinmayee

  1. yuck.. disgusting! such men deserve corporal punishment and nothing else… it’s only because they’re able to get away with such behaviour that these kind of crimes just don’t stop

  3. This is haunting and a great use of a writing exercise. It also raises awareness of the horror that women and girls go through around the world.

  6. Goosebumps. That’s all I can say. These kind of men should be punished. No matter who they are to the victim girl. What a powerful story!
