It was 10:30 p.m. Suddenly, Palak opened her eyes and looked around. It was dark, and she could not find anyone.
“Maa. Where are you? Maa….” She started crying loudly.
Abhay entered the room and sat beside her. He held her hand and kissed it softly. He looked tired and was still in his work clothes.
“I am here, baby. I will always be here.” Now try to sleep, my child.
“Papa … Where’s Maa?”
Struggling to answer, he could just say,” Away”. The WhatsApp message, ‘I want a divorce. Palak is your responsibility’ flashed in his mind.
Love,
Chinmayee

Hard hitting! The end took me by surprise! A divorce is usually very tough on the child and you have managed to express that so well, Chinu.
