Content:

The book reflects Michelle Obama’s life and struggles to become the First
Lady and then in the process of finding herself. For me, this book is not just
a memoir but a love story between two honest people who together took on many
things head-on and came out to prove that with strong will & clear
intentions, every single obstacle in life can be overcome. Becoming is a
detailed autobiography where the author has not hesitated to showcase her
weaknesses, admit her faults and justify her stands to protect her interests.

The book is quite appealing as it shares visualizations where I felt deeply
connected with the author and her musings. As a woman, it is hard to get
questioned or judged which has been beautifully depicted in the book. The
author invites the readers into her world that is shaped by  a girl who faces
racial inequalities; obstacles faced by a woman to balance her career and the role of being a mother & wife.

The book starts where Michelle Obama, as a kid tries to understand the
intricacies of growing up in a family that is closely knit and perseveres to be
her best self in every situation showing that one has to rise above any kind of
hate or hassle.  As you read through the pages, you realize that a little girl named Michele Obama grows to be an ambitious, opinionated and an intelligent lady who believes in standing up for herself.  I admired how values taught by parents mould an individual in taking important life decisions which the author has brilliantly shown through her life trajectory. Michele Obama excels in her studies despite trying conditions at her home belonging to a family that struggled to meet
their ends & eventually goes on to pursue Law in Havard and bags a job in one of the
best law firms where she meets her life partner Mr. Barack Obama. Together both
navigate through struggles and show that true love can overcome any hurdle when
two people work towards building trust and take vows to be with each other
through thick and thin.  I was deeply touched when the author lost her father who was just 55 due to illness.  One can get goosebumps while reading about nerve-wrecking journey towards motherhood and her situations of being left behind while pursuing her career and the infinite struggle to achieve balance in her life.

It speaks volumes of her character, who even after becoming the First Lady of the United States of America keeps trying to prove where she can make a positive impact in lives of people that she meets or aspires to meet! She keeps asking herself many times

“Am I enough?”

And then goes on deliver her best and in the process,  becoming so much more! Even without wanting to be part of active politics, she takes up campaigning and wholeheartedly supports her husband in winning votes to become the first Black president of U.S.A.!

Becoming By Michelle Obama is an inspiring read and truly captures the essence that grit & resilience can work wonders and make you rise above challenging circumstances. This book is about a journey and is for anyone who wants to believe that there is light at the end of a
dark tunnel. A must read !
