Roots of Life

You stand with your roots intact,

Firm & witnessing every single act,

The leaves ruffle with passing winds,

Your shade provides solace to many minds,

You have amazed us with your goodness

Without you, there is no life as such

The green canopy that is your attire,

It is something that we really adore

Gigantic as you may seem yet you care,

You are home to the little birds evading all their fear,

Welcoming them with open arms,

Chirping birds at dusk fly to you when they want to retire!

NB: This poem is written for the Pratilipi Poetry Marathon & is inspired by nature.
