I have been nominated by the poetess Ellora Mohanty to participate in the poetic marathon #PeetMeNotLeave. For eight consecutive days, I will be publishing one of my poems along with a photo.
I have been quite late in participating in this contest but nonetheless, I wanted to give it a try for the sheer joy of being able to create some poetic landscapes. I hope you like my attempt and in some way, enjoy the journey. I welcome you all on this fun ride!!
I have chosen Fire/light as my inspiration and I hope I do justice to the theme through my poems.
The fourth poem is captioned as Love story of Fire & Ice!

I am the ball of fire, declared the Sun
The source of energy of all the living beings,
The symbol of life , the harbinger of good vibes.
The ceaseless fusion in my chest
Radiates the eternal shine, inevitable
For the possibility of life itself.
I am the truth that rises every morning,
Inspiring millions to make the most of the day,
To make progress as my glaze gets brighter,
With each passing hour.
I am whole , unique & many eyes every single time
Look up to me to glow in my glory,
To reaffirm the faith in light over darkness.
A giver needs to give & hence I burn
To keep giving myself but none wants
To ever know what is it that I seek.
My ever gleaming flames,
Seek the solace of coolness,
The inspiration to constantly self annihilate myself.
Meanwhile ,the Moon sighed in a corner,
Pondering over thoughts , making efforts to understand ,
About the dilemma
Whether it is ugly or beautiful,
Some say I am with dents & scratches,
While few cite me as the epitome of beauty
I , the Moon pronounced,
Am the showstopper of the night sky
The lovers swear their pious love by my very name,
The charm that nourishes the bruised hearts,
A calming effect is what I effortlessly discharge.
But , my barren & frigid soul constantly
Searches for the comfort of warmth of a savior
One who amplifies my true potential,
Confessed the moon to the galaxies of stars around.
The Sun & the Moon then looked into,
Each others eyes and smiled, for they knew
Despite the distance that separated them,
It was also the reason why they both ,
Got celebrated each passing day.
They eclipse each other few times,
Signifying that none of them is without a glitch.
The sun might rule the day,
But the night is incomplete
Without the silver ball.
The Sun & the Moon,
Eternal lovers that they both are,
Keep holding onto each other,
Despite differences in properties,
Teach us some crucial aspects of relationships,
To co-exist in harmony despite the imbalances,
To inspire each other despite the sufferings,
To help evolve each other despite the failures,
To focus on goodness despite many short-comings,
Isn’t it?
Love,
Chinmayee
Wow, such beautiful thought.
The Sun & The Moon as eternal lovers.
I really loved it a lot, how both teach us to co-exist, to inspire, to focus….
