Deepa sent the WhatsApp message & rolled her eyes.

“Why does he never check the Email on time? I just wish he would see his WhatsApp. Someday I think I will have to tag him on social media if he forgets to see my message on time …. Ahhhh!”

She looked at the watch before finishing her breakfast. From Koramangala to White Field seemed like an everyday marathon, but somehow Deepa managed it all.  Born in the Palakkad district of Kerala, Deepa always wanted to be a Metro girl. Own money, own decisions, and a safe distance from home is what she had always aspired for. And Bangalore felt like a home away from home. Dubai, though dazzled many a time in her dreams, seemed far. She somehow managed to juggle many things at once. The societal pressure to get married, the urge to never give up her freedom, the office politics & her content creation gig on Instagram. She kind of wore many hats…tiny hats. She did not have any standout features; she somehow always topped the list when it came to calling a spade, a spade!

But one thing she despised in her life at the moment was her Boss, Arvind. He had to be spoon-fed information about upcoming meetings all the time. And Deepa was meticulous because she could never afford for her boss to miss a meeting, especially because it was a start-up. She needed recognition too & a solid reason to never leave Bangalore, where she felt free, way more than she felt at Palakkad.

Her phone rang. It was Mr. Subramanium.

“Deepa, what time will you reach the office? I have made some changes to the business model to be proposed to the client today. I have also had a detailed discussion with Arvind. But I need you to book the conference hall for a quick half-hour session with all stakeholders in the first half. I want everyone to be on the same page. And do not bother, I have informed Arvind. He will be there.”

“Thank God! Yes, Sir, will do the needful & keep you posted. I am on my way.” She replied.

“RUN Deepa… RUN.”

She said to herself as she sprinted towards the nearby bus stop.
