The traffic signal turned red and I came to a halt! Atop my Honda Activa, I bent over the handle and twisted my fingers a little trying simultaneously to stretch my back that felt sore after a long day’s work. It almost felt like an eternity waiting there. Crazy how time behaves sometimes, isn’t it? You want it to pause, it moves; you want it to end and it never does! As I looked around, I saw faces …some tired, some irritated, some frustrated, and some …well one can’t really say what they were thinking… maybe blank faces without any thought!
Cars honking, the traffic policeman blowing his whistle and the maddening rush hour on the busy road were just getting on my nerves. All I could think was going home, taking off my clothes, and showering. And then probably prepare a quick one-pot meal for which I did not seem to have any energy left. As I turned my eyes towards my side, I saw a young couple on a bike glued to each other. The guy had hung his bag on his front leaving his broad back for the girl to rest her head. And the girl had almost wrapped herself around him. Young love is a crazy rush! The hormones just do not listen to you. The drive, the forces are so strong that you forget where you are, and at what time it is! Nothing matters except the physical intimacy! It seemed as if only two of them were happy, giggling away in their own fantasy land as the whole around them felt restless in the paradigm of reality that lay before all of us.
I looked into the mirror of my scooter. I had a faint sign of a wrinkle … maybe near the corner of my eye or the forehead. And there was one little strand of grey hair… maybe two that somehow had escaped the dupatta I had wrapped around my face. I then tried to adjust my helmet and jerk off my thoughts about him!
